Versatile 100-400mm Reach

Fast, Quiet Autofocus

Two linear motors provide quick, precise and quiet autofocus for both still photography and video. The lens can maintain autofocus while zooming and is capable of supporting continuous AF/AE tracking at up to 120 frames per second with the Sony Alpha 9 III.

Quiet focusing also helps prevent unwanted motor noise from being picked up during movie recording.

Optical SteadyShot Stabilization

Built-in Optical SteadyShot helps reduce the appearance of camera shake, providing steadier framing and sharper handheld photographs at long focal lengths.

Extend the Reach to 800mm

The lens is compatible with Sony’s optional SEL14TC 1.4x and SEL20TC 2x teleconverters.

With the 2x teleconverter attached, the lens reaches 800mm on a full-frame camera. In APS-C format, this combination provides an angle of view equivalent to an extraordinary 1200mm.

Teleconverters are sold separately, and maximum aperture is reduced when one is attached.

Convenient Lens Controls

A customizable focus-hold button provides immediate access to focus lock or another assigned camera function.

The combined focus selector offers three useful settings:
