The faster sensor reduces rolling-shutter distortion, supports blackout-free high-speed shooting, and enables advanced video frame rates. Up to 16 stops of dynamic range help preserve natural tonal transitions from bright highlights to deep shadows.

The a7 V can capture full-resolution images at up to 30 frames per second using its electronic shutter, with continuous autofocus and auto-exposure tracking. Its blackout-free electronic viewfinder provides an uninterrupted view of fast-moving subjects throughout the burst.

For photographers who prefer a traditional shutter, mechanical-shutter shooting is available at up to 10 fps.

⏪ Pre-Capture and Shooting Speed Boost

Pre-Capture continuously buffers images while the shutter button is half-pressed. When the shutter is fully released, the camera can save moments from immediately before it was pressed—ideal for birds taking flight, athletes reacting, or other unpredictable action.

Continuous Shooting Speed Boost lets the photographer temporarily increase the burst rate with a customizable button, providing additional control when the action suddenly accelerates.

Improved processing provides accurate color, natural skin tones, fine detail, and effective noise reduction throughout the sensitivity range. A new lightweight RAW option can reduce file sizes and improve workflow speed while retaining RAW editing flexibility.

The five-axis in-body image stabilization system provides up to 7.5 stops of correction at the center of the frame and up to 6.5 stops toward the edges.

This helps produce sharper handheld photographs at slower shutter speeds and steadier video without requiring a tripod or gimbal. Compatible stabilized Sony lenses can coordinate with the camera body for additional control.

AI Auto Framing can automatically crop and follow a recognized subject, creating the appearance of an additional camera operator. Framing Stabilizer can also maintain a consistent subject position while the camera moves.
